Exit on the Parkway and follow until you reach Lansdowne St. Turn right (east) on Lansdowne St. and continue to Monaghan Rd. Turn left (north) at Monaghan Rd. and continue until the end which will be Parkhill. Turn left (west) at Parkhill Rd and the next traffic lights will be the school entrance. Drive to the very back of the school and enter in the back door of the wood shop. The back door of the wood shop is in a fenced-in area.
Meetings generally start with a short formal session followed by a “show and tell” table from members’ work, an in-house competition, a draw table and a demonstration or presentation of some type. We also have an extensive book and video library which members are encouraged to use at no additional charge.
Hands-On Courses
The Guild also offers “hands-on” courses, consisting of three sessions each, where beginners learn the basics of tool handling, control and technique while turning spindles and bowls . These classes are taught by member volunteers and take place at St. Peter's Secondary School on the third Tuesday of the month between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Skills Nights
Skills Nights also take place on the third Tuesday of each month. These sessions cater to the needs of all our members, providing the opportunity to make use of Guild equipment in developing skills or working through problems in an informal format.
Special Events
In addition to our regular meetings, the KWG also offers special events where professional turners from around the world are invited to demonstrate their expertise and show their works. These sessions contain a wealth of knowledge and are a great vehicle for sharing ideas and perspectives. They have included turners from Australia, England, New Zealand, the U.S. and Canada.
